Nordic Ware Zoo Animals Pancake Pan Giveaway

Nordic Ware Zoo Animals Pancake Pan Last month the awesome people at Challenge Dairy asked if I was interested in receiving another package from them. Yes please! This time, they sent me a bunch of coupons for free butter, an awesome Nordic Ware mini bundt/candy pan, and a zoo animals pancake pan. I was super excited about the mini bundt pan because a few years ago my sister bought me a Nordic Ware pan which I absolutely love. Their products are wonderful. (And look! They also have a coupon on their site as well.)

If you don’t currently own any Nordic Ware, here’s your chance to win some! They’ve teamed up with Challenge Dairy and are having a photo contest where you can enter to win $2500 worth of prizes. I know, that is an insanely awesome prize, and you better believe I am entering!

Now on to my giveaway–since I rarely make pancakes and don’t have a need for zoo animal shaped pancakes, I decided to give the pancake pan (and some free butter coupons) away to one of my lucky readers. To enter, leave a comment telling me about the best dessert you’ve ever eaten–it can be something you made, from a restaurant, whatever. Just share all the delicious details.

Contest ends at 11:59 p.m. EST on Sunday, April 18, 2010. One winner will be selected at random shortly thereafter and contacted by email. Please note this contest is only open to residents of the U.S. and Canada.

***Contest is now closed.***

Pumpkin Cheesecake is the best dessert I’ve ever had but not because of the actual product but who I was eating it with, my grandmother. It was the first time I could afford to take my grandmother out for dinner and I wanted to take her to one of the most expensive places in town. We had a great conversation and split a piece of that delicious cheesecake. I’ll never forget her deeming it the best thing she had ever eaten and I was thinking this was the best dinner of my life.

Best dessert? My dad’s chocolate cake with homemade caramel frosting. Delicious!

The best dessert that I can recall from recent years was Tie Dye Cheesecake from Pop Century Resort at Walt Disney World. This is red velvet cake topped by a dense cheesecake in vibrant colors. To say that it was amazing would be an understatement. Of course, we had to make it when we got home and changed things up a bit. When we made it at home we used Strawberry cake as the base and liked it just as much if not more. Yummy memories of magical times at Disney World. Hope you are having a wonderful Passover….almost over!

Oh, it has to be Uno’s huge fresh out of the oven chocolate chip cookie, topped with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce. The cookie is still warm and served in the pan they baked it in. The ice cream is already starting to melt when is gets to your table. I know it’s nothing extravagant but, it is by far my favorite dessert and believe me I’ve eaten my fair share of desserts.

The best dessert award has to go to Dorie Greenspan’s Chocolate Armagnac Cake–I have made it with any number of variations (cherries in place of some of the prunes; walnuts, brazil nuts, almonds and pecans for the ground nuts; cognac, whiskey, or armagnac for the liquor; with yogurt in place of the eggs; in summer, in winter, in the morning and at night) and it comes out perfectly moist and decadent every single time.

When my husband and I first started dating (22 years ago!), “our” dessert was a TollHouse Pie at Coco’s. Most of them have stopped making it — although I have heard it is coming back under a different name. In the meantime, I have a recipe for one that I make for special occasions. I have even been known to send one to a friend 😉

The best dessert I’ve ever eaten is my Mom’s famous ‘striped delight’! It’s layers of chocolate pudding, graham cracker crust, and whipped cream! I’ve been eating it since I was a kid and still love it! YUM YUM! Thanks for the chance!

The best dessert I ever ate was something I made, and it took all day to make. It was a Sweet Potato Tartlet with Cranberries, Ginger Snaps, Candied Pecans and whiskey carmel sauce and it was insanely delicious.

Apple Pizza – I make it. (and when I worked in a pizza joint, they let me make it there and sell it too)

one pizza dough (homemade or not)- a can or two of apple pie filling (or make your own). Sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon on top, then put shredded mozzarella cheese all over it, just like a pizza. bake at 350 until crust is golden brown. EAT! 🙂

Wet Coconut Cake. While yellow cake is still warm from the oven, you mix a can of sweetened condensed milk with a can of Cream of Coconut and pour it over the cake. Chill, then frost with whipped cream and sprinkle liberally with coconut. Yummmmmm.

    Jodi on 18 April 5th, 2010 5:31 am

Zabaione. In Florida at a restaurant about 5 years ago. It came in a sundae glass with a small piece of pound cake at the bottom layered with mini chocolate chips and fresh strawberries. The Zabaione was then one that topped with more fresh strawberries and more mini chocolate chips, with the slightest chocolate syrup drizzle. Rich and to die for. I think about it often.

Best desert ever is actually very simple. . chocolate chocolate chip ice cream, pecans and homemade fudge sauce. (half and Half warmed with chopped chocolate. . .let melt into velvety sauce. cool) Pour over ice cream. So yummy!

Well… There are so many! I am a real dessert buff so I have eaten plenty! But I guess one of the best was a french Crêpe cake… it was layers and layers of Crêpes, real whipped cream and strawberry compote. I had it for one of my birthdays, and I was the best, so soft, yummy, full of taste and sin 😀
    The best!

    I call it “Banana Heaven”.

    Layer:

Lorna Doone shortbread cookies (one box)
Sliced bananas (enough for one layer – you CAN make this w/out & it’s ok)
Mixture of 8 oz. softenend cream cheese, medium size cool whip, and vanilla pudding mix (small) mixed w/ 1 1/2 C milk.

    Refridge overnight.

Best chocolate dessert ever (AND made with my ancient but still perfectly usable Nordicware Bundt Pan) is my chocolate bourbon cake from the old cookbook by Maida Heatter “Chocolate Desserts.”

And – OMG – Margaret could you PLEASE share that recipe for Sweet Potato Tartlets?

My favorite dessert of all times is Poppop’s chocolate chip banana cake. It is rich and decadent and our birthday tradition. He made it every year for my sisters and I. Now I make it for Froggy.

I would love this pan. My husband is a huge monkey person, so I could give him monkey pancakes.

I have a huge sweet tooth, so dessert is pretty much what I look at first on a menu even if I end up forgoing it. I made a white chocolate cheesecake (with an orange marmalade swirl to cut down some of the sweet) from the Death by Chocolate cookbook. I loved that cookbook so much that I copied by hand into my personal cookbook four or five recipes including the one for the Chocolate Wedlock wedding cake, which I have made twice! Delicious!

    jami on 31 April 5th, 2010 12:46 pm

It’s going to sound passe’ now, but at the time (January 2000), I was totally overwhelmed by a molten chocolate cake at Auereole in Las Vegas. We also used to get amazing desserts at a French restaurant in Long Beach called Magdalena’s. They’d cut us “half-portions” of two different desserts (both of which were big enough to be whole portions) and they were delectable.

We eat ridiculous amounts of pancakes in this house (well, B does), so it would be fun to win this!

    Deborah Rosen on 32 April 5th, 2010 2:36 pm

The best dessert I ever had was an Italian rum cake that served as my dad’s birthday cake over 30 years ago. The cake was light and fluffy, the creams were rich, thick and full of flavor, and the icing has the slightest crunch to it. It came from a bakery in southern NJ, and no Italian rum cake or cream cake has ever come close.

    Aimee on 33 April 5th, 2010 6:01 pm

The best dessert I ever ate was a tofu cheesecake topped with fresh strawberries topped with mint. The texture was magnificent. It looked silky and tasted so creamy. I would have never guessed it was made from tofu. I wanted to recipe, but the lady said she did not have one (?) .. that she simply added a little of this, and a little of that.

The best dessert that I’ve ever eaten was a chocolate cake concoction. It was called “Chocolate Decadence” . It was extremely rich, chocolaty, smooth, yummy and I just couldn’t get enough of it. It wasn’t a large serving portion, but huge in deliciousness. I would order it whenever I went to this unique restaurant called La Boutique located in North Shore Lake Tahoe, Nevada. To this day whenever I think about that dessert my mouth begins to water and my tummy aches for this dream dessert.

Soooo good. Oh, and we eat a LOT of pancakes around here. This pan would help. My makeshift mickey mouse pancakes are losing their charm.

The best dessert I ever ate was at a tiny Italian pizzeria. It was tiramisu that the owner’s wife made at home and brought to the restaurant once a week. And I was fanatic about getting a piece every week before it sold out. Rich, creamy, boozy and delicious! I am drooling at the thought.

    Michelle on 69 April 10th, 2010 12:38 pm

I had a macaron in France- from this bakery we stumbled upon near Versailles. It was pitachio, but had fresh, tart, juicy raspberries in the middle along with the ganache. It was ethereal, and if I had the money, I’d hop back on a plane to get another one right now 🙂

Fresh made hot crepes with a banana and caramel filling, with vanilla ice cream and fresh whipped cream on the side. Thank goodness the cafe is almost 4 hours away or I would be a very big girl! But it would be worth every single pound!

    Katrina on 71 April 10th, 2010 7:50 pm

Flaky, buttery layers of the crust gently waft in the delicate steam escaping through ornate cutouts. Gooey, melted Maine blueberries remain safely hidden below the surface – for now. A generous scoop of ice cream melts slowly, warmed by the heat that escapes from below. My fork pierces the surface of the crust, cracking it in two. Steam rushes up, momentarily blinding me with a fog on my glasses. The melted ice cream trickles in, mixing with the sticky, sweet juice of the blueberries. I switch to a spoon – the perfect melding of ice cream and blueberry pie filling must be savored. I dig in, carefully carving a few flaky layers off of the crust. I lift the magical mixture to my mouth and suddenly I can taste it – pure heaven.

    An on 72 April 11th, 2010 5:57 pm

The best dessert I had was just recently. I mean, I love desserts (who doesn’t?) but it came as a surprise to me as I set out to make my first pound cake that pound cake was boring. A thing of the past! I already knew I was going to hate it, going to curse myself for all the time, all the wasted ingredients. But still, I bit my tongue as I grated and squeezed the lemons. Still, I bit my tongue as I baked the pound cake. It took quite a while to in the oven and immediately my horrors began. Too dry, flavourless, horrible! Once done, I let it cool and set out to make the icing. For this, two ingredients, sour cream and sugar. I poured it over the still warm cake and twiddled my thumbs. But I’ve never been patient and afterall, this was my first time. I cut off a sloppy piece and hunkered down, ready to get critical. And then I stopped. The most luscious, beautifully fresh smell wafted up to my nose, of lemon, summer and of butter. I’ll always remember my first bite. Of my teeth sinking through the crispy and succulent crust, tasting the summer, tasting the tang of the glaze. It was by far one of the simplest yet most mouth watering thing I have ever tasted and I can’t believe I denied myself this long.

    Mmmm, dessert!
The best dessert I ever had would have to be … well there are two that come to mind. #1- While pregnant and needing a chocolate fix in a big way, I had one of the very first pieces of The Cheesecake Factory’s 25th anniversary Godiva cheesecake. I ended up buying an entire cheesecake after trying that! Something I had never done before or since!
#2- Bestest dessert would probably be a recipe I make a zillion times a year… Marcel Desaulnier’s Brown Sugar Bars. Before coming up with my own recipe to mimic the See’s Butterscotch Squares, this was the closest thing I could find. When I make a batch of these, I hoard them! Mmmm, brown sugar!

My boys are avid pancake eaters, so that pan would be uber fun! Thank you for the contest!

It’s pretty pathetic, but the best dessert I have ever had actually came from TGIFridays. They used to have these brownie sundaes that had ice cream, caramel and fudge drizzle, and oreo pieces, all atop a warm Ghirardelli brownie. They have another version of this sundae at Friday’s now, and it’s not nearly as good. 🙂

It’s the perfect crunch of the sweet meringue, and the fresh whipped cream on top. And then add the fresh fruit, sliced vibrant green kiwi, strawberries, and raspberries. A kiwi dessert that I would die for!!
