Bake a Difference for Kids’ Cancer (& Giveaway)
Two years ago I lost my friend Patti (my age–only in her 30s) to cancer. Watching her go through treatments, try different medications, and see her in pain was one of the absolute worst things I have ever witnessed and I can’t imagine a child going through what Patti went through. So, when I heard that one of my favorite brands, OXO, was donating up to $100,000 to Cookies for Kids’ Cancer to support research for new and improved therapies, I knew I had to participate.
Background: Cookies for Kids’ Cancer was founded by two OXO employees whose own son was battling pediatric cancer. When the couple learned that the main reason over 25% of kids diagnosed with cancer do not survive was because of a lack of effective therapies, the organization was started. How you can help bake a difference: Purchase a limited edition cookie spatula! For every spatula sold, OXO will donate 50% of the profits (up to $100,000) to benefit pediatric cancer awareness. These spatulas can be found at Bed Bath & Beyond and Amazon, as well as other retailers.
Finally, OXO provided me with one spatula to give away to a lucky reader. Along with the spatula, I’m including the Cookies for Kids’ Cancer Best Bake Sale Cookbook as well as even more cookie cookbooks generously provided by Harvard Common Press. Now you’ll have no excuse to not have a bake sale to support this amazing organization!

Peanut butter, oatmeal, chocolate chip has to be my favorite…it’s all three of my favorite cookies rolled into one. What’s not to love?

Having been diagnosed with cancer myself, it breaks my heart to imagine what a child must have to go through. I would donate this gift to Gilda’s Club where they help families struggling with the effects of treatments. Thanks for spreading the word about the spatula! I will purchase some as stocking stuffers.
My favorite cookie are the ones that you put a hershey’s kiss in the center after baking. I love using the Candy Cane kisses and a chocolate cookie base.
My favorite cookie is the basic chocolate chip! But I love oatmeal chocolate chip as well! It’d be even better with this spatula, though!
My favorite cookie used to be chocolate chip….until I tried a red velvet cookie yesterday.

I love pretty much all cookies, but my favorite that I make are either cuccidati, an Italian holiday cookie, or the gluten free lemon sugar cookies I make.
